OK, if you have been reading my Travel Blog for years, you know,
"Andy Graham does not like tourists."
It is not to say, I do not like tourists, in many ways, I would love to be able to afford to sit around by the swimming pools of Five Star Hotel and chat with the rich and famous. That is something I really enjoy.
Hmmm, but I am not fond of paying 6,000 USD per month for rent.
Think about it, if I paid 200 per night for a 5 Star Hotel Room, then 200 times 30 days in a month is 6,000 U.S. Dollars per month.
What do tourists feel like to me?
It feels like spending 6,000 U.S. Dollars very quickly. And, there is nothing wrong about being a tourists, they are on a two-week vacation, a splurge, they are going to spend enough in two weeks of their vacation to keep them happy for the next year. The are going to be the rich and famous for two weeks, or die partying.
Tourists want to spend money, they want to buy, it is two weeks of not being responsible for anything they do...
What is the number one way to save money as a Tourist?
Do not go during "High Tourist Season."
I will guarantee the cost of everything drops from 20-80 percent, the plane alone is going to drop from 20-50 percent.
How to know when high season is?
The best way is to go to the library, take out a Lone Planet Guidebook, or Roughguide on the country you want to visit, but then take care, there are times when a specific city has a high season.
Do not ask you friends, it is not the way to do it, they do not know, they are guessing.
If you search on Google for words like --- Tourist High Season (Country) ---- you can sometimes find something, but they churn information, sites will repeat what another sites said, the will do journalism that churns, they do churnalsm by repeating down the line the same information.
A Hotel or Tour company will say "it is always cheap to come," they LIE!
Truly the only 100 percent dependable information is probably from the paper guidebooks and the even your friends are better than the Internet.
Another Travel Tip, try to understand the location of the "Tourist Bubble," and live outside the bubble full of tourist. (The guidebook will show that, it is the location where all the Tourist Hotels are located) --- Hmm tourist hotels are more expensive than hotels for locals.
I think you can see a few reasons I avoid tourists, they are expensive to be near.
Good luck, Andy Lee Graham of china-marbles.info
