Why Catholics Need Big Guns

Why Catholics Need Big Guns
I often wonder why Catholic countries appear to have more crime than other religions. Here are two photos showing the guns from Guatemala and Philippines, both countries are predominantly Catholic.

The tourist shuttle van stops just before arriving to the city of Panajachel, Guatemala to look at the lake called Lago, Atitlan. Today, the splendor of the lake deserved every cliché the world knows.

I will take a 40 Quetzal shuttle van from Antigua to Panajachel at 7:20 am, I am not looking forward to the trip, I am worried about getting motion sick.

I truly despise the little vans; a big bus is 10 times more comfortable and safe. However, sometimes there are not many options. There is a large Pullman bus that leaves at 7:00 am, however for many reasons I am not taking it today.

Panajachel is a large village on the shores of Lago Atitlan, one of the more beautiful lakes on the planet.

A man is out in the hall clearing his throat, a person can almost gauge the how primitive a culture is by this disgusting sound.

I am excited to be in Pana, it is one of my favorite places on planet earth, funny I will leave Antigua that should be more civilized, and go to a place that is less civilized and find what I feel is more civilized people.

Taca First Class Upgrade

Taca First Class Upgrade
I got on the plane, took my seat, I arranged an exit seat over the wing, whereby I got a little more legroom, so I already had a good seat. However, I have this funny habit of asking the airline Women if they are going to feed me.

I get on enough planes, I understand the procedure and I get bored, and I often talk with the Airline workers about many subjects. However, I have been on this kick where I ask them if they are serving Pizza. Today, I just said in colloquial English to this tall Latina girl,
“You gonna feed us?”

She looked at me with a nervous smile and rush to the front of the plane, nothing new here, many women ignore me.

As best I can tell, the women went back and told the man who I think was the head Airline Attendant. Well, he came and stood by the seat saying,
“So you are hungry Andy.”
Before I can speak, he says,
“Come with me.”

The plane is about ready to leave, it is taxi-ing toward the shooting range, I finally got up and scooted to the front, he waves me into a Front Class seat, he says,
“You will get served first.”

What is the moral of the story? I truly believe talking and making life fun for workers can upgrade your life. I was having fun, doing my normal talk to everyone that is near me strategy on how to live life and it got me a first class upgrade.

I need to work this situation more on them 12 hour across the lake trips, this was only four hours.

I think I was the only “True American” on the plane, this was truly strange, I was told by a man in Antigua tourism is off by about 25 percent.

Memories of the Amazon River

Memories of the Amazon River
I first went to Iquitos, Peru in June of 2000, I had just arrived from a boat trip from Manaus, Brazil on a boat that resembled a cattle truck more than a boat. When I think of the Amazon River, I think of a Lake that moves, and very large women in hammocks.

I will leave for Iquitos, Peru today, the starting point for many trips on the Amazon River, a city of around 400,000, most likely a guess of population. I am anxious to learn how the city has changed in the last eight years, and what has not changed.

I am anxious to hear of the "Amazon Golf Course Wars," a feud between the expats living in Iquitos, Peru, I keep thinking, these boys like to drink, shag women, they do not golf.

My second trip to Iquitos, Peru was in December of 2001, whereby I took a boat from Coca, Ecuador to Iquitos, Peru down the Rio Napo, with smaller boats, and one that resembled a Cattle Boat; I was calling it the Ark because it had all the animals. I still remember a huge turtle and a monkey that was urinating on a cute girl.

Life has changed, the world does not stop for me, and it will be great to return to this crazy city on the edge of the planet.

I remember the Amazon, I often dream of torturous future trips, one is where I start in Bolivia trying to find the smallest branch of the Amazon and go all the way to Belem, Brazil by water. Not such a difficult trip, more of a how much time spent being with the dirty world. A person taking these trips would live with the locals, however never would be able to fully settle down, also moving there would be a constant twirling of a stick in the muddy water.

I remember a place called Capitan Claviver; I took a boat into the jungle about 2 days down from Iquitos, towards Paculpa, Peru. The locals went out into the middle of the river to dip water to drink, the muddy waters of the Amazon, in a world full of people afraid to talk, afraid to walk, there are places where people live their lives with no fear of life. I guess there will always be a part of me that wants to live more primal, to take what is mine, to live the good life, I tire of the dribble coming from mouths of those who cannot live on the edge of the planet, they have not even seen the Dragons and they are afraid of something, who know what, their minds are out of control.

The Amazon River will take centuries to tame, I would guess in 200 years, and I hope longer. I am now dreaming of the Congo River in Central Africa, hoping to visit soon; I want to go and look over the edge of the planet and pet the Dragons.

When you get to the edge of he planet, there be Dragons, memories a person can never explain, only allude too.

Finding The Way to Your Home

Finding The Way to Your Home
We are having fun on the HoboHideOut.com site; we got this A B C D navigation finally on the USA page. There are so many cities and locations in the USA it is difficult to make navigation. The world may be a Lonely Planet, however for sure there are many cities.

We be techies, we have our Head up the wrong place sometimes, very difficult to see the woods for all the trees, trying to make a site easy to use is a challenge.

Site navigation of 6.5 million cities on the planet, give or take a few million is difficult, trying and confusing to readers.

I tell boy genius from India,
“When you Mom can find it, then it is good.”
I also say,
“My Mom cannot find the city where she lives in.”
Can you find the city where you live in the USA?

Can you find in the world?

This is a little anal, however it is an English Language site, we are a global site, not a USA only site, we have concentrated too much on planet earth and apologize, and we are now focusing on the USA, so where many English speakers live can find their city.

Too funny in a way, Boy Genius from India does not understand that American have their head up that place, and do not even know there are countries outside the USA sometimes. We are trying to focus now more on this big English speaking mass of people in the USA more.

This is the greatest geography lesson of my life.

Extreme Healthy Diet

Extreme Healthy Diet
I started eating extremely healthy a week ago; it was a simple transition for me, a person not prone to giving himself excuses.

I put my hand on the salt shaker the other day, then looked at it, stopped and said,
“No.”

I say an extreme healthy diet, because this is a no excuse, no exceptions diet. No processed foods, no sugar, no coffee, no ice cream, no salt, no spicy hot foods, not much reason to even enter a convenience store. I must go to the markets, I must eat vegetables and fruits, and I must cook foods in the guest kitchen.

This is not a vegetarian diet, 99 percent of the vegetarians analysis of what they put in their mouth is inaccurate and driven by junk science analysis. I have more or less stopped eating any foods where they put it in a box, or added ingredients for flavoring. It is for sure a stopping of sugar addictions or salty foods.

I think if I ate something with concentrated sugar I would start to buzz, I am not eating many simple sugars or monosaccharide. I guess a good way to look at it, if there is a list of ingredients or a packaging it probably is not something I eat.

This takes a lot of concentration; it is amazing how many people offer me foods to eat, even saying,
“This is healthy.”

One of the great pleasures of traveling outside the USA has always been the open-air food markets. Although the fresh food departments of large grocery stores in the USA make life 100 times easier to buy food, I still enjoy the daily ritual of walking to the market.

It is baffling and intriguing, somewhat suspicious that I have discovered so few tourist or travelers willing to enter a fresh food market to buy foods. I am almost willing to say, a person who enter a fresh food market in Guatemala or anywhere on the planet is a better prospect for a friend. I have made many friends inside the market here in Panajachel, Guatemala and will miss joking with them when I leave; they are in a way my only friends in this city. I see them as natural friends, while most of the travelers or tourists I encounter are somewhat delusional.

I do not think people can cook and also are too lazy, a lazy person cannot be healthy.

It is work to enter a fresh food market, haggle with the vendors, ever careful in my choices, I must know which foods are ripe, which vendors have better quality. It is a daily process, time consuming and involves me being interested in cooking my foods.

I believe a person must cook their foods to be healthy, the foods offered in restaurants is lacking 50 percent of what is needed for extreme health.

I worked out at the health club for years, about 15 years I went daily to the gym to work out, while on this good endeavor I started to read Muscle Fitness Magazine, it explained how exercise to grow muscles. I have always considered this the most intelligent and well written, highly researched, clear and to the point health magazine, I have read. There is no way a person can super bulk up their body, become a mass of muscle without eating super healthy. It by far is the most intelligent analysis of eating I have ever read. This magazine gave me the impetuous and concepts.

In the end, I like living, it is time to stop playing the excuse game, I am now 52, I need to quadruple the serious nature of foods, exercise and take care.

I am not eating organic, I am not eating only natural foods, I see this as marketing, nothing to do with scientific analysis, and just labels put on food to make people feel good. I am eating many vitamins and would believe it foolish to stop, and when I hear the words organic used, feel a twinge of annoyance

Maybe I would call this my diet as a result of reading muscle fitness magazine.

Never worry about my health, I am strong as an ox, carry two backpacks that weighs close to 80 pounds with no problem and continually listen to weak people complain about their 20-30 pound bags. I live a life less normal; I am not in the same game as the average person.
