Tuttlingen Germany Hotel
I am thinking too much about too stupid of problem, I am thinking about breakfast, and whether it is free or it cost. The woman or the boss, or the owners, or for sure the management of the Hotel that showed me to my room and helped me check in also showed me to the breakfast room.
I tried to ask,
She speaks zero English, and I speak only the “Hello” and “Thank You,” therefore both of us are only working by the idea that we both know what I am doing, I am renting a room for a couple of nights.
However this breakfast issue is making me think too much, there is this gossip or story told to me that breakfast is always included, or they must provide breakfast in Germany at hotels. This English woman in the Hostel in the Liechtenstein told me stringently, that,
“The must supply breakfast.”
Now, she is a 55 British Lady, living in Germany for 30 years, and talks to me in the manner that she knows and for sure, I do not understand how to travel. She has a subject, and the subject of the sentence could be “Hostels”, or it could be “Youth Hostels,” they are not the same, and she could mean, “Hotels.” I really cannot figure out the direct subject or target of her sentences, I have has other travelers say that breakfast is always include in Europe.
However, I can say, only about 50 percent of the time in the Hostels has a free breakfast been included, or probably less. In the Hotels along the way about 50 percent, I am clueless to decided when or when not, this seem to be a service of many accommodations, however for sure not guaranteed. It is difficult to suss out he truth in these statements, and these well-intended, self-appointed experts on all subject, and all travel issue are hard for me to refute as I have only lived or traveled in maybe about 12 of the 42 countries, and this does not make me feel confident to talk on Europe. I have been or stayed in Europe about five times, and now have lived in Europe over 7 months of my life.
A free breakfast is more of a standard in Europe than the rest of the planet, however only in my opinion maybe a 50 percent option. However, to me if you list the words “Guest Kitchen,” I would suppose a kitchen includes a “Stove.” however for sure many hostels do not see fit to include a kitchen that allows you to cook.
I would like to say I am an expert traveler; however, this self-appointed acclaim seems arrogant and impossible to tag on myself. The world is a big place, too big, I find I am not able to know everything, I think maybe I understand 4 percent of the travel world, and for sure they place dice with the rules on a daily basis. Nothing is predictable, and nothing is guaranteed, I will not trust myself to say, or use the word always in the sense of really “always.” It is only a generally, or a normally, it is never 100 percent on anything. However, for the sake of speech, I do say the word always, however for sure I mean normally.
However as the too sensitive types, or politically correct always want to say too often, too much, and with self-righteous demands in their voice.
“What is normal?”
This means that normal does not have a right to exist; however for sure there is a place for normal, life has normal things. However, in travel there is a hope of normal standards. Like maybe, here in Germany or part of Europe breakfast is included free.
Standards do not apply, I remember or think of staying the Four Star Hotels in Iraq, the Hotel I am in presently in comparison is then a Five Star, however I would say, I am in a One Star, and only a couple of the ones I was in Iraq, yes the Al Fanar was at least a One-Star Hotel in Baghdad, however the ones in Arbil or Dohuk were only zero stars.
I get very annoyed thinking about the first class bus systems in South America, which are often over-priced and racist to me, just a way to pay your way to not have to sit with Quechua people. I will not pay my way to stay away from the rabble, I want to live and eat with the rabble for the same price in life. I do not want to separate, I will pay more though for better service and quality, however not to keep myself away from normal people.
Ooops, I cannot to one paragraph without using he word normal.
I am having the problem of “Cognitive Dissonance.”
It is the torture imposed on my brain, when a person poses a question, my mind goes into over-drive, it is total lack of harmony until the question is answered, ergo Cognitive Dissonance.
Oh well, only one solution, I go to breakfast this Sunday morning, sit at the table, hold up some Euros point at the plates of food, rub my thumb and index finger, the what-I-hope-universal-hand-signal for “How much money.”
Then she will either write down the price on a piece of paper or give me a wag of the finger no. I guess the shaking of head no and the wagging of finger back and forth in German hand signals is the same as USA. I think the use is 25 percent or more German so they have not translated or change the hand signals. We use the same language of hand signals, however the word are different.
There is no need to translate hand signals between Germany and the USA, normally, however what is normal…?
This little lady is serving me my morning sausage, I do not eat sausage, however have made exceptions in Germany before, this breakfast is included and free in the Rosengarten Hotel in Tuttlingen, Germany
Yogurt and Muesli, a great breakfast, fattening however better than the Sausage, and a real treat, like eating Butter Pecan Ice Cream on top of Muesli or maybe we in the USA could say Granola, the Granola has Oatmeal, I guess, however the names bleed together.
(2) Muesli: breakfast food: an originally Swiss mixture of cereal flakes and rolled oats with dried fruit and nuts, eaten with milk for breakfast
Oops, the dictionary did not say “Yogurt.”
Breakfast is FREE and the room cost 21 Euros... Woopee what a great deal, not dorm bed, TV and a free good breakfast, this must be the imagination the folks are searching for in Germany, plue the city is full of wonderful buildings.
I am in Tuttlingen Germany.
It where the read 148 or 149 is on the map, and was the number of a couple newsletter I wrote a while back.
I think the Hotel is 21 Euros, not the 27 I was expected, the lady at the reception wrote down the price, it look like the 1 that is like a tent, I am hoping it is 1 and not a 7, however both are ok and I am happy. The room has CNN, electricity, common shower and a great bed, Sabine fixed me up good.
Germany is being clever, I have no access to USB here or a way to tranfer information to the computer. I will do soon at Sabines house, so I can relieve my pent up photos I want to post on Liechtenstein.
I arrived in Stuttgart, Germany from Krakow, Poland, I am lucky and have a room tonight, however the place looks bleak for tomorrow. I have no idea what to do here, I can only think about going to Frankfurt, not sure.
I am paying about 20 Euros a night and that is about my limit on wanting to see Germany, life is just a little complicated here.
Thinking about finding a round trip ticket on easyjet.com and going to another country for a few days, raining here, all the locals are real helpful, however the people that are supposed to help severely lack on help.

Photos Krakow Poland and Stuttgart Germany
I had a lot of questions to answer at the Krakow, Poland airport as the were looking at my room heater invention, half finished, looks more like a toaster.
When the guy said Toaster, life became easier for me.
Statue in Krakow Poland
Brad and Diego, two great guys from Canada I met in Stuttgart in the Alex 30, not so friendly Hostel, however ok, more or less. Friendly is a bonus, not a needed aspect.
Getting on the 87 Euro flight between Krakow and Stuttgart Germany with the airlines
This bank in Stuttgart gave me these really great coin bags, he gave me 8, now I put the Euros in one, the Swiss Francs in another, and the do not get mixed, I can then save for when I get home for Samantha my niece to clean up and sort, not that she wants this job, I have appointed her as Uncle privileges.
I live in the Bling Bling,
Two nights ago there was a robbery of a whole room in the Dizzy Daisy.
STUPID - NAIVE OR TRUSTING
I want to say, this is too stupid, however what do you say when the whole flock of geese fly the wrong direction. The Dizzy Daisy as I understand is owned by the same person as the Bling Bling, this is good, there is the same large lockers.
Photos of these great lockers on this page.
The both have these large very solid and almost perfect wood lockers vaults in the room, however I guess the people did not use the lockers and trusted everyone in the room. Therefore someone went through the dorm room and stole many things of value laying around. This strangely is SOP or Standard Operating Procedure of the backpackers, trust everyone, I think they are sometime to rich or too lazy to just put things away.
Europe is to me one of the most dangerous places on the planet to travel for those who live in Hostels, because most Hostels do not have lockers. I mean, we are in EXCEPTIONAL Hostels presently, this owner is good, he gives and almost perfect locker. A perfect locker would allow me to use my own padlock with a hasp.
However this is really good system and he or she needs congratulated, however the travelers of the planet want to think.
"Can I trust everyone I meet?"
If the answer is yes, then for sure stay home, if the answer is no, then why would you leave valuables laying around in a dorm where anyone can rent a bed, you are trusting everyone, this is optimistic, however not so smart.
I am annoyed that I must sometimes allow owners of hotels to have a key, the cleaning ladies are not the most trusting people on the planet. It is like all the geese will believe it is possible for perfection.
There will be people blaming the London Police for not stopping the last set of bombers, this is ridiculous, there is no way to stop them.
Note: I found a really good Hostel Directory site to find Hostels, I think it works good for Europe, however I am not sure after that.
Here is the current newsletter with about 200 photos of Poland, and includes the Auschwitz Concentration Camp.
Hobo Travel Tips Newsletter from Krakow Poland
It is 5:07 AM in the morning, a couple of arrogant Americans just came home from an all night drunk, the one man just keeps saying,
“I turn 23 tonight.”
I am not sure, there is something amiss here, and I cannot get my mind around the situation. There must be some common characteristics that annoy me.
I believe this is a class system problem for me; I come from a factory class family and am surrounded by multiple generation ruling class, or those who wish to be the ruling class. In the underdeveloped countries or maybe about 85 percent of the world they are looking at the 15 percent, the USA, and Europe with the idea, this is where they go to be special, to have the special life.
In every person on the planet, there is this need to separate themselves from the normal; I have a saying on my site, “A life less normal.”
I do not want to be special; in fact, I try my best to avoid fame, or special notice from the groupie mentality, MTV mentality ability of observations. I received and email the other day asking in very raw terms,
“Ok… A#$H#*-, when are you going to put your photo up for us to see?”
What I want is this from travel.
1. Time to think.
2. The small conversations that randomly occur between people.
3. The brainstorming.
4. The introspection that is impossible to avoid.
On the negative side, as a French girls said the other day, I want to avoid the consumer person, she said, consumation person. This is maybe called the takers, however it is not just the selfish takers, there are people that consume and eat everything around them, and they devour the good will of anyone or anything in front of them. They live on the good energy of the planet believing they are by a sense of superiority endowed to all things.
Strangely my feeling about the French girl was that she was a consumer, although she was very clear, understood the people, I felt I should avoid her because I would not be more, I would become less.
These consumers obstruct my path, they are in the way, they are everywhere and almost impossible to avoid. Make a person want to become a hermit.
However, there was a great moment yesterday in my travels, the moments that are so very difficult to explain. The type of synergy of experience between people that makes life great. I wish I could duplicate this, the best I can do is figure out how to avoid the consumers.
Europe to me is only about consuming.
The moment was this, I am trying to make this little electric heater, I have learned so much about electricity and what does not work it is becoming easier to find what works.
I have come up with an 80 percent correct model or example.
I just thought about travel, I know why I travel; it has nothing to do with becoming a better person. I do not believe people become better people by traveling, the benefits are less than the cost for the average person, and they should stay home.
I travel because the percentage of new and interesting conversations increases, the “percentage of unique increases.” It is the perfect world for the obsessively curious person. It is the world where a person that cannot stop asking why can thrive, a place where a person looking for an answer will find some answers.
I do not believe people travel to find answers, they travel to consume, they look for answers that support the beliefs they already have, or read the guidebooks and go out and find the answers that support what the guidebook says is important.
A person looking for answers can find them anywhere; travel just answers many questions you would never ask.
The electric heater is making progress; I think I have an 80 percent workable design.
A. 600 Watt Electric heating coil.
Big enough to cook food and heat the room, however low enough that it will not overload breakers or fuses very often.
It will fit inside a one-inch thick CD Rom case; it is 1x4x4 inches.
C. Light weight.
The great moment came yesterday when I walked into the third hardware shop and this lady that spoke a little English was helping me, she tried to help, she focused on my goal. She did not care whether she earned money, whether we had a common language, she focused on my little gadget and we worked together for options that would lead us to a solution. She only focused on the solutions, possible solutions, or ways to maybe assist me to achieve my goal. She of course does not understand the goal clearly and I have to always explain that I cannot carry a 20-pound heater in my bag. The first focus of people is to help me make a heater, to make a heater is very easy, to make a lightweight, low wattage, that works on both 220 and 110 is difficult.
Well, this was the moment of fun, the conversation.
I believe one day it is 99 percent possible I find what I want sold in a store, and my invention will be moot, all of this energy just spent in fun.
All countries are great to visit, however I find it very difficult to avoid the consumers in Europe, I am traveling in the wrong manner here, I do need a car or avoid all the big city tourist bubbles.
