There appears to be two or three major types of homes in or around Rapla, Estonia. A small peaked bungalow and a more rectangular long house. I think the oldest homes are constructed with wood, however the newer ones are concrete or brick.
A very old home looks to have a long or high stone foundation, then a wood constructed home on top of say a 4-foot high foundation. Barns seem to be the oldest structures around, however I have seen they are putting Styrofoam insulation on house and then plastering with concrete looking substance.

I took a bus from Rapla, Estonia to Parnu Estonia it cost about 55 Kroon, and took me about 5 hours to go about 80 kilometers.
The buses do not leave very often and I really cannot just go to the bus stop and expect to catch a bus.
This woman helped me in Rapla; there was nobody that spoke English that worked at the bus stopped. She finally understood my English pronunciation of Parnu and then I wrote it down on a piece of papers. Once we agree on where I was going, she walked me to the correct gate and then held up 10 fingers to say the time. She was very nice, however for the most part none of the bus drivers would help. They go into an instant, I do not speak English so I cannot communicate phase. From now on, I will write down on a piece of papers the city, maybe find the world for price.
This is a typical field along the way, actually a little cleaner, most look somewhat scrubby and for sure not as organized as they could be, there appears to either be grazing land or scrub land, looks like an Indiana Land Bank type situation.
A flower along the way, I saw a bee, however did not capture the photo, however the bee and the sun were perfect for a moment of time.
Reader writes me about Travel Writing... hehehe
For ease of understanding, I will answer in CAPITALS LETTERS.
I don't want to come across as sounding pretentious but I'd like to
offer you a few suggestions to improve your writing. I've published
three books and have written for a number of publications, including
the Financial Times of London so I think I know a little bit about
the subject. ;) I read your journal because I am interested in the
places you visit.
1. Is there any way you could spell check your diary? I'm a bad
speller myself but I'm getting a bit frustrated by all your spelling
mistakes. I suggest typing your diary in Word and then cut and
pasting it to Yahoo once you have run a basic spelling and grammer
YES, I CAN DO THIS, HOWEVER YOU ARE NOT EMPATHIZING WITH THE DIFFICULTY OF WORKING INSIDE AN INTERNET CAFE. I AM NOT ON MY COMPUTER NOW, FOR THE LAST THREE DAYS THERE WAS NO WAY TO TRANSFER INFORMATION FROM MY COMPUTE TO THE INTERNET CAFE. I AM ONLY WORKING WITH MY COMPUTER AND A CONNECTION ABOUT 20 PERCENT OF THE TIME.
MY BRAIN WORKS AT HYPER SPEED, AND IT IS LITERALLY IMPOSSIBLE TO SLOW MY BRAIN DOWN ENOUGH TO PROOF READ ACCURATELY AND STILL HAVE A LIFE. I AM GOING TO PAY A EDITOR EVENTUALLY TO GO BACK AND FIX THIS, I AM HAVING THE LIFE, THE REAL TRAVEL LIFE.
THIS IS REAL, NOT SOME FAKE CRAP, THIS IS REAL TIME, I JUST READ YOUR EMAIL, CUT A PASTED IT INTO THE BLOG AND WILL PUBLISH. IF YOU WANT A STAGED, UNREALISTIC, UNTRUE SITUATION THEN I WOULD MAKE EVERYTHING PERFECT.
I AM NOT A LYING SACK OF SH"#
I AM NOT A TRAVEL WRITER AND SORT OF CONSIDER THAT AN INSULT.
I DO NOT CARE
THE GOAL OF THE WEB SITE WAS TO EARN ENOUGH MONEY TO TRAVEL, I AM MAKING NOW FOUR TIMES THE AMOUNT OF MONEY NEEDED. I HAVE THOUGH SERIOUSLY ABOUT QUITTING THE BLOG, HOWEVER MY MOTHER LIKES IT, AND IT DOES GIVE ME SOMETHING TO DO.
2. Try focus less on costs and annoyances and more on your
experiences. What stands out and grabs you during your travels?
People make for good stories. Therefore, you need to make a greater
attempt to meet locals and talk about them.
THIS IS A WEB LOG OR BLOG
IT TO ME IS AN UNEDITED LOG OF MY TRIP, TO DO WHAT YOU SAY WOULD TO MAKE MY DIARY THE DIARY OF THE PEOPLE RIEADING, I JUST DO WHAT COMES TO MY MIND AND DO NOT MAKE AN EFFORT TO DREAM UP STUFF TO THINK ABOUT. AS FOR TRAVEL I ALSO DO THAT FOR FUN AND NOT FOR THE READER.
3. Employ rich detail to illustrate a point or a theme. If you meet a
beautiful girl, talk about her. Where does she come from? What was
she wearing? What does she do for a living? What foods does she like?
What does she enjoy doing? In short, strive to develop the characters
that come into your life.
I HAVE BEEN THINKING ABOUT ADJECTIVES, I READ A LOT OF JAME MICHENER AND WILBUR SMITH, I ADMIRE THEIR ABILTY TO EXPLAIN.
4. This book may help you improve your travel writing:
THE LINK BROKE SO I DELETED... I CANNOT BUY BOOKS ANYWAY, I AM WANTING TO READ THE SHELTERING SKY AND I MUST READ WHAT I CAN TRADE FOR AND I CANNOT BE BOTHERED TO SPEND A LIFETIME LOOKING FOR ENGLISH BOOKS IN BOOKSSTOES. I TRADE AS IT IS POSSIBLE.
A Sense of Place : Great Travel Writers Talk About Their Craft,
Lives, and Inspiration (Travelers' Tales)
by Michael Shapiro
I HATE TO READ TRAVEL WRITER AND THEY ANNOY ME, THEY STAGE, POSTURE, LIE, AND MAKE UP STUFF JUST TO ENTERNTAIN. THIS IS MY DIARY AND YOU JUST HAPPEN TO BE READING IT
I hope this helps. I don't want to sound like a know-it-all. My own
writing could certainly use some improvement as well. ;)
BY THE WAY A LETTER WITHOUT A LAST NAME IS AN ANONYMOUS EMAIL AND LACKS IN CREDIBILITY, I NEVER PUBLISIH LAST NAME UNLESS THE PERSON WANTS ME TO, HOWEVER FOR ME TO TAKE A PERSON SERIOUS THEY NEED A LAST NAME. I HAVE FOUND THAT THE WHOLE WORLD WANTS TO BE A WRITER, AND I JUST WANT TO GO CHASE GIRLS IN OTHER COUNTRIES.
I HAVE ACHIEVED MY GOAL FOR EARNING ENOUGH MONEY TO TRAVEL FOREVER, AND HAVE MANY MORE PROJECT IN THE WORKS, MOST OF WHICH I BLACKHOLE BECAUSE THEY WOULD BORE MYSELF TO DEATH TO WRITE. I NEVER JOURNALED IN MY LIFE AND ONLY STARTED BECAUSE I WENT TO IRAQ AND THOUGHT IT WOULD HELP PEOPLE TO LEARN ABOUT DANGER, AND IRAQ.
I SPEND TWO HOURS PER DAY IN THE INTERNET MAXIMUN, AND IN THAT TIME I SPEND MOST OF THE TIME DOING THING THAT HAVE NOTHING TO DO WTIH THE BLOG. THE BLOG IS REALLY ONLY ABOUT 5 PERCENT OF THE TIME I SPEND WORKING ON MY COMPUTER. THE OTHER 95 PERCENT IS STAGING TO MAKE MAJOR TRAVEL SITE MOVES AND PROJECTS. I AM A COLLECTOR OF DATA, THAT IS MY HOBBY, THAT WITH GIRLS...
I ALMOST EDITED THE GIRL PART, THEN THOUGHT, NO THIS IS MY DIARY
I GOT TO GO, I SUPPOSE I COULD HIT THAT LITTLE abc THE SPELL CHECK,THINGY ON THE BLOGGER.COM THINGY HERE, HOWEVER I AM TIRED AND WANT TO GO WATCH TV.
THANKS THOUGH IT DOES MAKE MY DAY THAT YOU THINK IT IS WORTH TRYING, HOWEVER REMEMBER FOLKS....
I BE HOBO
THEY ARE CLOSING SO REALLY NOT POSSIBLE TO SPELL CHECK.
I left Rapla, Estonia or more correctly I left the Hotel in Rapla and went to the Bus stop in Rapla at 7:30 am, it then took me to 12:10 pm to get to Parnu, my plan was to go to Riga, Latvia. No bus, nobody that spoke English and just plain difficult, I am going to write the names of cities down like I do in Arabic or Asian countries, these people do not speak English a lick.
I finally have an internet connection that is full service, Estonia has to be one of the worst place I have seen for internet cafes, they just do not have many, Germany had a bunch, however they had too many firewalls, spam, and other types of stops. I have tested the computer here and I have full access... I hope when I return I do too.
NOTE... Hehehe... go figure, my Hostel or the Louna Hostel here in Parnu has wireless, of course just like the Lette'm Sleep in Berlin it does not work, this internet stuff is maze. In Asia or South, Central America I just need to walk another 50 meters and enter an internet cafe and see if the next one works. Here I have had at most three places to try, and in Germany the only one that worked is the one owned by the Turkish people... go figure, the more modern the worst. Trust me though the USA is worst for travelers wanting to find an internet cafe, the more modern the country the less available to the public.
I have some photos and will put them up soon.
A post I wrote, however was not able to post until later about the bus in Tallinn, Estonia.
I am at the Tallinn, Estonia Bus Station for Eurolines and a few other companies I believe. Left the Hostel hoping to get a taxi from the 14 Uus Street to station, however Val’s Cell telephone stopped working because he did not pay, therefore I walk to the main high way about 200 meters away an flag down a taxi that cost 50 Kroon or about Five dollars U.S.
I decided to go to Rapla, the bus ticket cost 35 Kroons or 3.50 Dollars U.S. therefore after all of this with out any real hassle I will pay 8.50 U.S. to change cities. I chose Rapla as maybe being one of the major cities between Tallinn and Parnu, however not in the guidebook. I was fortunate to snag or read a Lonely Planet Baltic States just before I went to bed and learned with cities were in the guide. I am wanting to go to nowhere or no tourist city.
No Tourist City
The best idea I have on finding no tourist is to not be in the guidebook, any city in the guidebook will have tourist, and the downside is there may not be any rooms. I am getting on the 7:15 bus which I would guesstimate to take 1 hour to arrive in Rapla, therefore I will arrive maybe at 8:30 and still have five and one half hours of travel times to make it to another city or go on to Parnu on the coast, maybe on to Riga, Lativia. Nothing is far in Europe and a cakewalk for times, not long trips, by South American standards.
I feel I am in a tourist bubble and want to see what Estonia looks like; Capital cities and Tourist traps are for sure not real culture, actually hard to find Estonia food in Tallinn.
Hmmm... That is pretty big.... I am playing with the H1 in the code, seeing if I can make the more perfect page.
Wikipedia.org Convention Frankfurt Germany
The Berkman group people or the way to smart people at Harvard told me or notified me there is a convention on this open source Encyclopedia that is taking name and kicking a#% on the internet, therefore I have decided to wander over towards Germany on August 4th, to have some fun and learn.
Wikipedia.org Convention Frankfurt Germany
I am in Rapla, Estonia, probably will not be able to do much with internet, it is Windows 98, and the computer is difficult.
I am in some Hotel called the Joe Kulalistmaja... There are little dots above the u, so not spelled correct. It is great, car siding on the walls, private room, shared toilet for 310 or about 31 U.S. Dollars, not really a great bang for the buck being I am in no name city with nobody, however the people are nice, speak four or five words of English and there is a some old folks bar down below that looks like the locals will hang our in later.
Went down to the local super market and prices out the food, about the same as Tallinn, however more quaint. They have sidewalks along the road, nothing is close, everyone needs a car, however they do not have a car, lots of walkers. Pretty rich country, and I cannot figure out how they make money, not obvious factories or even growing crops looks on the weak side.
On the bus from Tallinn we traveled down a two lane tarvy type road, with lots of pine trees. It seemed as though they are not very good farmers as most of the land seems to just sit. There are many greenhouse behind the houses and small gardens.
I have not said it, however the sun almost never sets right now, it is almost totally light at midnight, and who knows if it get dark or when it rises.
I have entered the learning curve, I am completely oblivious on how to travel Europe for fun, to me it is normally torture. Today I left the clueless and am entering the learning curve, it is milestone in my travels.
I got up to leave this morning at 5:00 am, and realized I had not packed the night before and even though I had the time to pack, I would disturb everyone, so I delayed. Then I realized, I am nuts, I do not know if there are rooms available in Riga, Latvia and I cannot enter a city in Europe without an idea of room availability. This is like making a choice to sleep in the park, no reservation in Europe is like say, no problem, I will live in the park. Only the stupid say or elect to say no problem to walking around for three hours with a pack looking for a room.
Riga I believe has extra room, however I am or was going to do a cultural exploration and go off this EXTREME path between cities. The path is Riga to Tallin to Helsinki (Spelling) and / or to Stockholm. Some stop at Parnu or something in Estonia, however they will not leave the path, trust me I asked a few to go with me, however the need for reservation beats out exploration.
I am in a cultural bubble called Tallinn Estonia and my gut is saying constantly this is not normal Estonia and I need to find what could be called the Real Estonia. Not possible unless I live here and marry a local girl, however it is possible to get closer to real.
The guidebook is worthless and only talks of the path, not anything about off the path. However I made the two major boo boos and cannot leave today.
Life of Luxury means no hurry, and if tempted, no hurry, how can I be a lazy hobo when I am in a hurry to get nowhere. The next place is the same as where I am, just different day.
I like to travel, I like to live life, however I do not want to live the peoples lives around me, or follow their path. There is a path for everyone, not the same, however shared.
I entered the path of living in Europe easily, however for sure it cost about 50 Dollars U.S. daily to even get close to the luxury of living in South America for 15 Dollars per day or maybe 12 Dollars per day in Asia. Major cost of living change and for sure I will live in a dorm and not have a single room.
